Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is used by physiotherapists in the treatment of many problems. There are many different types of manual therapy the most common include:
Joint Mobilisation
These techniques are used when a joint is found to be restricted or stiff. Helping the joints move more freely improves pain and function and mobility.
Soft Tissue Release
Providing manual therapy to injured soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments and tendons can help improve healing and pain. It can also help improve joint mobility when soft tissue pain is reducing movement.
Neural Mobilisations
Considerable pain can also be caused by a nerve getting stuck or irritated as it makes its way around your body. As we move nerves glide and move throughout our bodies. Reducing this freedom of movement causes irritation and pain. Neural mobilisation techniques re-establish normal movement of the nerves thus reducing pain and improving movement.
At Helpful Hands Physiotherapy we are skilled to incorporate these treatments into your treatment.
